What is WordPress
WordPress is the most one of the most popular open source software used to create beautiful websites, blogs and apps.
It counts over 60 million of people that have chosen WordPress to power their websites, meaning 35% of the web that uses WordPress, from hobby blogs to the biggest news sites online.
WordPress is a content management system (CMS) ideal to create content focused websites.
With a huge community of developers around it, WordPress can be extended and transformed to suit any business need.
It’s super easy to use, anyone can manage a website build with WordPress with minimal training and it doesn’t require technical knowledge.
While from a developer point of view, WordPress offers a great flexibility as it can be extended and suit most business needs.
WordPress developer services
I offer a complete range of services for WordPress. From prototyping to websites, themes, plugins development and maintenance.
WordPress Developer | Scooping and Prototyping
Development of your WordPress website starts usually with a scoping session. We define requirements then produce a project brief.
Unless you already one, you can generate a free project brief by completing the the form on this page.
When the requirements are crystal clear, we create an interactive prototype design to translate the brief into something we can visualize.
After the prototype it’s time to write some code but first it’s a good idea to define our approach.
WordPress Developer | Agile SCRUM Software development
With all the requirement on hand and our prototype in front of us we can define a clear backlog for our project and follow an Agile SCRUM approach.
This is usually done by a project managers but even if you are working on a personal project it’s a good to do it as that helps keep the focus and a clear track of what we are doing and see progresses.
To help plan, track and manage the software agile development there are a number of tools we can use. I personally like Jira.
I highly suggest to take a quick read at the agile scrum approach guide available on the here.
WordPress Development | Themes and Plugins
When everything is in place we can move to the actual development.
I do not code directly on the hosting server but instead I build an environment as close as possible to the production server.
To do that I use a set of tools on a Linux, Windows or Mac os.
You can read this article about my actual local development environment here.
When everything is setup we can install WordPress locally and start building our custom theme and plugins. If you follow the steps to setup a local development environment i mentioned above it will take no longer than five minutes.
I have developed a few plugins for WordPress that you can download for free on the official WordPress.org website here. On my BitBucket account there is Plugin boilerplate that you can use to create your custom plugins if you like. Simply download the code and place it in the plugins directory.
WordPress Developer | Green Hosting Provider
When development is complete it’s time to push our code online to an hosting account so that anyone can see it.
A Green hosting provider should be your first choice. Also the IT industry has a big impact on the climate change and resources abuse.
There are various plans you can choose, it depends from your website resources needs and size. Here is a few options
Every WordPress website needs constant monitoring and maintenance and it is extremely important for the security of your website.
With my maintenance packages I scan your website regularly for vulnerabilities, apply updates and security patches.
I maintain three versions of a website, and I test updates locally first, and then I apply them to a staging version of the website. If everything is fine I apply the updates to your live website.
This approach guarantees the best level of security for your business and your website while you won’t interrupt your users experience.
